LE LANGHE DI PAVESE

Un paese vuol dire non essere soli, sapere che nella gente, nelle piante, nella terra c’è qualcosa di tuo, che anche quando non ci sei resta ad aspettarti”.

Cesare Pavese wrote these verses observing his Land where, among the soft hills, he also saw the sea. The Langa was for him a place full of stories, symbols and eternity. Never before did anyone else succeed in making the country of his childhood, Santo Stefano Belbo, the place where many of his novels were set, a sanctuary of the primordial forms of the earth, water, fire and the moon.

Today it is still possible to search for traces of what he felt. From the station of Santo Stefano Belbo starts a path that, passing through the vineyards, becomes a real open-air balcony on the infinite, where the deep silence continues to accompany the myths along a timeless journey.
