Just below the Levanne, in the Gran Paradiso National Park, near Villa Poma, on the orographic right bank of the Ceresole Reale Lake, there is the start of a wide path splitting into two directions, on one side towards the Passo della Crocetta, on the other to the Dres Lake and the Leonesi lodge. Nestled in the Orco valley, the wonderful Dres Lake, at an altitude of 2087 m, is surrounded by one of the most beautiful coniferous forests in all of Piemonte.
Road access: From Turin, take the northern ring road towards Caselle - Cuorgné. After the village of Cuorgné, take the Pedemontana, State Road (SS) 565. At Castellamonte, follow the State Road 460 of Ceresole Reale. Once in Noasca, continue past the four sharp bends and enter the long tunnel until reaching Prese and the Brengi hamlet, near which you turn left towards the GTA lodge "Le Fonti Minerali". There is parking space near the Ciarforon hotel.
Route: Leave the car in the parking lot of the Ciarforon hotel, go around the lake and cross the dam, then continue on the left up to Villa Poma; this stretch coincides with the cross-country ski track.
At Villa Poma a series of signs indicate various destinations including the Dres Lake.
Follow the summer path to a second sign for Dres Lake, keep following the signs and continue through the woods to another fork where a third sign indicates that the lake is 40 minutes away.
Continue slightly to the left, cross a bridge and you find yourself in wide open spaces. The route continues along a few huts and a large boulder and finally get you in sight of the lake.
