Grand Puy

The Grand Puy, which literally means large hillock, is a characteristic alpine village with a favorable southern exposure, which makes it possible to find on this route an almost always settled snow or with a bearing crust. It is a short excursion with the possibility of stopping to eat in the characteristic farmhouse.

Road access: From Turin’s ring road, near the Orbassano exit, take the expressway to Pinerolo. In Pinerolo turn right towards Val Chisone-Sestriere and go up the valley to the hamlet of Ruà, located just before Pragelato. Here it is advisable to leave the car in piazza Guido Lantelme, where the tourist office is located.

Route: After leaving the car, take a right onto the provincial road and then turn left onto Via Grand Puy. After about 300 meters you see the track that climbs next to trees shortly after a house that you leave on the right. The route goes up the slopes on the hillside and gets to a curve of the asphalt road to the Grand Puy. Here the track continues on the outside of the curve to the north-east, passing between trees and on a small stream, then goes out on easy and pleasant slopes that offer a nice view of Pragelat, Val Chisone and lbergian. From here you can see the Grand Puy hamlet, which you reach in a short time.
