MITO SettembreMusica returns, the international festival that for twenty years has united Milano and Torino through a shared cultural programme. Every year, this highly anticipated event transforms the two cities into vibrant spaces for discovery, exchange and artistic excellence through the universal language of music. The 2026 edition marks an important milestone: the Festival’s twentieth anniversary coincides with the beginning of the artistic direction of renowned conductor Speranza Scappucci. She has chosen Harmonia as the guiding theme, inviting audiences to reflect on the values of listening, dialogue and coexistence: through music, it explores how diversity and different voices can come together to create balance and understanding. Over two weeks, historic theatres, concert halls, churches and urban venues will host more than sixty events, including symphonic concerts, chamber music performances, baroque repertoire, new productions and special projects. Alongside internationally acclaimed artists and ensembles, the festival places a strong focus on emerging talents, family-friendly programmes and initiatives designed to engage new audiences. The festival will open with Benjamin Britten’s monumental War Requiem, performed on 6 September at Teatro alla Scala in Milano and on 7 September at the Auditorium Rai Arturo Toscanini in Torino. This powerful work perfectly reflects the spirit of Harmonia, exploring themes of peace, memory and reconciliation. MITO SettembreMusica offers a unique opportunity to discover Milano and Torino through their cultural landmarks and distinctive atmospheres. With an accessible and city-wide programme, the Festival continues to be one of Europe’s leading cultural events, attracting music lovers and visitors from Italia and around the world.
