Giacomo Puccini: musica, cinema e storia

10/06/2026 - 25/10/2026

As part of the celebrations marking the centenary of Queen Margherita’s death, the exhibition highlights the bond between Italy’s first sovereign and the composer. It was Queen Margherita who, in 1880, provided financial support for the young Puccini’s studies so that he could attend the Conservatoire. This gesture bears witness to the sovereign’s commitment to the country’s cultural and artistic development. This bond is illustrated by the original costumes created for Carmine Gallone’s 1953 film *Puccini*. The costumes, designed by the renowned set and costume designer Georges Annenkov, will be displayed alongside film memorabilia and a historic camera, in an exhibition that spans music, cinema, costume and Italian history. A visit to the exhibition is included in the tour of the Palace.
