Ettore Sottsass, l’attività grafica. Una ricerca d’archivio

11/06/2026

Presentation of a book that, for the first time, systematically reconstructs a little-known chapter of Ettore Sottsass’s work: that of the graphic designer, at the crossroads between the visual arts, publishing and corporate communication. Drawing on materials held at the Ettore Sottsass Jr. Archive of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, the book spans over sixty years of activity, from his early experiments in Turin in the 1940s to his projects for industry and corporate communication in the 1970s. The volume brings together critical essays and in-depth analyses dedicated to key aspects of Sottsass’s work, from his collaborations with Redan and Italia Disegno to projects for Fiat and the Agnelli family, right through to the visual identities created for vermouth brands. During the event, Marco Scotti – art and design historian – and Fiorella Bulegato – architect and university lecturer – will engage in a discussion with Fulvio Ferrari – designer and gallery owner, founder of the Casa Mollino Museum – on a fresh perspective on Sottsass’s work, re-examining the role of graphic design in twentieth-century visual culture and in the construction of the designer’s imagery.
