For the 2026 European Heritage Days, dedicated to the theme of ‘Archaeology in Progress’, Susa Svelata is hosting a special event: ‘The Wonders of Segusio’, an evening dedicated to the town’s ongoing archaeological excavations and the discoveries that are rewriting the history of ancient Segusio. For one evening, the Civic Archaeological Museum and the Cathedral of San Giusto will open their doors to an exclusive tour of places usually inaccessible to the public. From the courtyard of Adelaide Castle, visitors will be guided through the praetorium excavations, the castle’s storage areas where materials unearthed during the recent restoration of the Civic Theatre are kept – including precious fragments of plaster painted with floral motifs from the so-called ‘House of Roses’ – right up to the cathedral’s construction site. The tour is enhanced by the special presence of officials from the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the Metropolitan City of Turin; the movements between the venues are brought to life by actors from the DDT theatre company. From 7.00 pm, visitors can enjoy an aperitif featuring local products.
