Torino is gearing up to host the fourth edition of Oscillante, the first European festival entirely dedicated to ballant circus disciplines, the spectacular swinging aerial techniques. The Spazio FLIC and the Area Bunker will host three days of shows, performances, installations, live music and international meetings, transforming into a vast immersive space featuring artists from Canada, France, Germany, Italia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain - among the most compelling contemporary practitioners of ballant trapeze, flying rope and Korean cadre. At the heart of this new edition will be the grand outdoor Cabaret Oscillante, a show featuring 12 artists specialising in swinging aerial disciplines, accompanied by accordionist Paolo Forte and led by the versatile actor and comic writer Francesco Giorda. Among the main events is Curtain Call featuring the multi-award-winning German artist Lisa Rinne, silver medallist at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, accompanied by her compatriot, musician and circus artist Andreas Bartl. The festival’s special guest will be Pascal Jacob, an internationally renowned circus historian and artistic director of the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, one of the world’s most important circus festivals, who on 28 June will hold a talk open to the public dedicated to the evolution of contemporary aerial circus art. Also on the programme are site-specific creations In Situ (action) directed by Roberto Magro and Erika Bettin with emerging artists from the FLIC School of Circus in Torino, and the immersive multimedia and performance space Spazio Vivo. As in previous editions, the festival will also offer open classes in swinging trapeze from 15 to 20 June, allowing even non-professionals to try their hand at this discipline. The artistic programme will be accompanied by street food, artisan ice cream and a cocktail bar.
