XXXVIII Torneo Storico dei Borghi di Susa

Three days of history and competition: a medieval weekend that kicks off on Friday evening with a thrilling display of rhythmic beats and choreography by the drummers of the Villages in Piazza San Giusto. The atmosphere becomes even more thrilling on Saturday evening with the majestic historical procession through the city streets towards the Roman Arena; here, following the oath taken by the Capiborgo, the grand medieval spectacle in honour of Countess Adelaide takes to the stage. Sunday begins in the morning with the parade and the solemn blessing of the Palio in the Cathedral; in the afternoon, the grand finale sets the Roman Arena alight once more, where the six Villages compete for victory in thrilling traditional contests of archery, the Saracen joust and tug-of-war. At the end of the contests, the winning Village claims and takes home the coveted Palio, the banner that marks the town’s triumph and glory for the entire year.
