Harry Gruyaert. Retrospettiva

18/06/2026 - 04/10/2026

Colour takes centre stage at CAMERA with the first major Italian retrospective dedicated to Harry Gruyaert, one of the most innovative figures in contemporary photography. Born in Belgium in 1941 and a member of Magnum Photos, Gruyaert was among the first European photographers, in the 1970s and 1980s, to give colour a profoundly creative, perceptive and emotional dimension. In an era still dominated by black and white, his work follows in the footsteps of photographers such as Saul Leiter and William Eggleston. Through a chronological journey that includes the famous TV Shots series — dedicated to the first colour television broadcasts — the exhibition traces the evolution of his vision, deeply influenced by his numerous travels, which became the focal point of his work. In his images, each place is distinguished by specific chromatic qualities.
