Borgate dal Vivo 2026. Iliade Open Mic

04/07/2026

What if the Trojan War were told in the form of stand-up comedy, directly by the protagonists themselves? Can we be sure that the story unfolded exactly as it has been told? What hidden truths might we uncover? And are the characters satisfied with how they’ve been portrayed, or does their version hold some surprises? The Milan-based collective Terzo Segreto di Satira makes its theatre debut, choosing the format of stand-up comedy to recount the present in its irreverent and highly original style, drawing on the greatest stories of antiquity. The Iliad, ‘a poem of strength’ as Simone Weil described it, tells of the ancient wars—exhausting and uncertain—of the Mycenaeans and their most daring military campaign, the high point of their expansion in the Mediterranean: it is the lost world of heroes, the privileged arena of champions, the aristocratic universe of princes. With irony and just the right touch of improvisation, the protagonists of the Troy Comedy Club take to the stage, where an unlikely MC has organised an open mic: these heroic figures will recount their version of the story, unfiltered and without lies. And through their narrative, we can glean insights to reflect on our own society and observe how, in this throwaway era, we can swiftly go from protagonists to extras. Taking turns on stage are Achilles, the archetype of the Greek hero—a young, fearsome and invincible warrior, destined for an early death and immortal fame, who must defend himself against accusations of egocentricity; Ulysses, the ineffable and boastful strategist; and, of course, the ‘golden couple’ who sparked the war, namely Paris and Helen, who for the first time face the gossip to tell their truth.
