Sergio Saccomandi painting exhibition ‘I must have the courage to look deep inside myself, to the very core and beyond, to erase the outline of my mask so that I can learn the dance that sets me free and allows me to laugh and feel compassion for myself and others, but above all I must accept the terrifying greatness, the exciting possibilities and the tremendous limitations.’ Sergio Saccomandi was born in Turin in 1946.He graduated from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied under Paulucci and Calandri. He was formerly professor of painting at the Art School of Turin.Since 1981, he has been living in the Canavese area in the hills of Barbania. Since 1968, he has held 60 solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Italy and abroad, receiving recognition and awards. He was recently awarded second prize in the European competition organised by the Tadini Academy in Lovere. An engraver, painter and set designer, he works primarily using the techniques of etching, aquatint, drypoint and ceramolle.His works usually depict still lifes, landscapes and animals.He has held solo exhibitions and taken part in numerous group exhibitions and events dedicated to graphic art.
