The territory of Alessandria, on the routes to Genoa and Milan, was already in the past a crossroads of international artistic influences: this is evidenced by splendid goldsmiths' work from the late 1500s and early 1600s, side by side with other works of art from the period, with loans of objects even from the Uffizi Museum in Florence.
