THE HUNTING RESERVE OF GRAN PIANO

The Hunting Reserve of Gran Piano di Noasca, today an unmanaged refuge for hikers, partitioned in a functional way to accommodate up to 10 hikers, was built by the House of Savoy in the middle of the last century.

The curiosity is that, between 1856 and 1900, 325 km of mule tracks were built connecting 5 "royal hunting lodges".

Today, compared to the past, only two remain, those of Orvielle, in Valle d'Aosta, and that of Gran Piano in Noasca. To get to Gran Piano, a wonderful and wild hollow in the Gran Paradiso Park, you must start from the hamlet of Balmarossa. The walk, along a comfortable mule track, takes about three hours.

From the Refuge, it is possible to continue on to Bivacco Giraudo or Bivacco Ivrea.
