CARNEVALONE STORICO DI CHIVASSO

Among the most important historical carnivals in Piedmont, the Carnevalone of Chivasso dates back to 1905 and involves thousands of spectators every year.

The event is characterized by numerous allegorical floats from the largest carnivals in Piedmont, often of spectacular size, with over 4,000 participants who give life to a festival of dances, jets of flowers and confetti, in a crescendo of color and joy. The peculiarity of the Carnevalone of Chivasso is the active involvement of the spectators, who become themselves the protagonists of the event.

The historical procession opens with the parade of the historical characters of Chivasso: the "Bela Tolera", the "Abbà" and their court of ladies, bishops and pageboys. The main characters are placed on a golden float that reproduces the octagonal tower, the only remains of the ancient castle of the Marquises of Monferrato.
