The treasure of the Certosa of Banda

According to a legend in the Certosa (Charterhouse) of Banda, an abbey certosa of Villar Focchiardo, municipality of the Susa Valley in the Province of Torino (Turin), there was a big hidden treasure. Everything started all because of a misunderstanding.

The story tells of a friar who invented a new recipe, mixing the toma cheese with a little bit of polenta obtaining a mixture of a roundish shape that he put to dry on the axis of bread out in the sun.

However, one day, a mountain man, who was passing nearby, saw the golden colored food cooking in the sun, and misunderstood everything.  The mountain man thought that it was gold and that in the Certosa (Charterhouse) there was a treasure, which for many inhabitants of the area it was just a mere mirage.
