The path of the souls in Valchiusella

The "path of the souls", which its name has origins that dates back to the ancient oral traditions of the people of Valchiusella, refers to the mysterious engravings on the rock that meet along a path that leads from Traversella to Piani di Cappia.

The legend tells of a story of how souls of the dead passed through this passage way and for this reason, the shepherds could not place the fences around their flocks, and so that the animals wouldn’t be frightened at the sight of the souls passing by.

Another legend tells of the elderly, who wanted to end their lives, would let themselves fall off the steep path.

Beyond these stories, the path remains one of the most curious and interesting of the whole area, and for those who love mountain walks.
