On the last Saturday of carnival, among the narrow streets of Chianale (la Chanal in Occitan), the highest village in Val Varaita, located along the road from Ponte goes up to Colle dell'Agnello, "LOU TROUPEL DEL LOUP" takes place.
The event is represented by a man dressed in wolf pelts with a carnival mask and a cowbell, who is carried around the village tied with ropes.
Accompanying the restless brigade are the ringers for whom every opportunity is good to bring to life an impromptu dance to the sound of Occitan melodies handed down in the valley from player to player.
The actors are all male and the prey today is everyone who stumbles upon the brigade. The quest ends in the evening with a grand traditional dance open to all.
