LA SUGGESTIVA CHIESA DI SAN REMIGIO

The magnificent gardens of Villa San Remigio in Pallanza host the evocative Church of San Remigio, an elegant Romanesque oratory dating back to the 11th - 12th centuries.

The Basilica is built of squared stone blocks arranged regularly and its facade is partially hidden by a portico.

What most fascinates, however, are the beautiful frescoes that it hosts inside.

Among the most interesting, in the main apse, there is a curious cycle of the months (XIII century), which portrays the different human activities carried out in the various seasons of the year.

Also surprising is the iconography of the "Madonna del Latte" (Madonna of the Milk) (16th century) depicted on a pillar: this image was widespread throughout the subalpine range and recalled the cult for Mother Earth.
