LA LEGGENDA DELLA TORRE DELL’ANGELO

The Torre dell'Angelo, Angel Tower, stands proudly, near the heart of Vercelli, Piazza Cavour, and is best known for a famous folk legend.

It seems, in fact, that its name derives from the miraculous intervention of an angel who allegedly saved the life of a man passing through Vercelli who, having climbed the tower to enjoy the panoramic view of the city, leaned too far and fell.

During the fall the man invoked the Virgin, to whom he was very devoted, at which point an angel appeared and grabbed him, carrying him safely to the ground.

This legend reminds us somewhat of the myth of the Beautiful Alda, linked to the beautiful Sacra di San Michele; and you?
