LA CASA DEI DRAGHI

We know that Turin is a city full of grandiose and valuable buildings. However, few people know that near the historic centre, in Corso Francia 23, there is a beautiful building that at the time was called "Casa dei Draghi" (or Palazzo della Vittoria).

It was built by engineer Gottardo Gussoni, who finished the works in 1922, commissioned by the “Cavaliere del Lavoro” Giambattista Carrera.

The house, built to celebrate Italy's victory in the First World War, consists of five floors, and is a mix of neo-Gothic and art noveau style, in vogue between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Apart from the entrance door, the atrium, the stairs, the tower and the balustrade of the balconies make this refined building truly special.

But what most intrigues those who admire the building are the two beautiful dragons, siding the door and representing the importance and prestige of post-war Italy.
