I NOCCIOLINI DI CHIVASSO

The Nocciolini of Chivasso, just as big as drops of water, are "historical" sweets from Canavese based on hazelnuts, egg white and sugar. Although their fame has now crossed the borders of Piemonte, they are native to the City of Chivasso, and for years have been recognised as a Traditional Agri-Food product. (P.A.T.).

They were made for the first time in 1850 by confectioner Giovanni Podio, who gave them the name of "Nocciolini". A few years later, the confectioner's son-in-law decided to bring the "Nocciolini" to the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1900, and then to that of Turin in 1911. In both events they achieved great success.

Their fame increased further when both Vittorio Emanuele III of Savoia and the dukes of Genoa conferred to the enterprising producer the title of "supplier of the Royal House".

Today, it is impossible not to find in the best Piedmonts’ confectioners the characteristic pink packaging that, together with the Duomo brand of the City of Chivasso, has always been a guarantee of the quality and genuineness of our region.
