CAFFE' FIORIO

What's better than enjoying a good ice cream or a coffee in a historic establishment? Better still if in the halls smelling of espresso and chocolate you can find the right inspirations to write a book.

Turin offers are many places rich in history, but among them is the Caffè Florio, which has kept intact the atmosphere of the past centuries.

From 1780, the Caffè has hosted illustrious writers, including Friedrich Nietzsche, Massimo D'Azeglio, Cavour, Tommaso di Lampedusa and, lastly, Giuseppe Culicchia.

In the nineteenth century, Avalle, director of "Il Fischietto", wrote a famous pamphlet in this shop of Via Po. His satire did not spare anyone, including Cavour, who had enough spirit to ironise the heavy criticisms.
