BEPPE FENOGLIO AND HIS HILLS “ANCHORED TO THE EARTH”

In his books, Beppe Fenoglio provided an intense portrait of the rural life and the partisan struggle in his land. From Alba to Murazzano, today you can go along some trails where it is easy to experience the "musical swirling of Tanaro's slow vapours", which crossed the places of his childhood and were the background for his most important novels.

On the hillsides of the Langhe, overlooking the Tanaro River "as huge storm clouds anchored to the earth" he also formed his political conscience and the anxieties of a whole generation.

The Langa, during the Partisan War, defended her children against the invaders, almost as if she were a great Mother. Yet, like an ancestral Goddess, she seemed to be always impassive in the face of human pain.
