ALLI DUE BUOI ROSSI E I SUOI TRE SECOLI DI STORIA NEL CUORE DI ALESSANDRIA

Nearly three centuries of history have passed since Antonio Capra decided to establish in Alessandria the restaurant "Alli Due Buoi Rossi," now the oldest hotel in the city.

It was love that drove the merchant Antonio Capra in 1741 to buy this place, just in the town of his beloved, near the boarding house where the girl worked with her family.

The idea of starting this catering business was intended to convince the girl's parents to give her in marriage.

The new inn immediately became a gathering place for all citizens and for outsiders who happened to be passing through, who here could have their oxen pulling the carts re-energized with food and drink (hence the name of the inn) and where they could have lunch and stay for the night.

Thanks to the proximity to the market square, Antonio was able to enter into various contracts and personally sell even some livestock.

In short, a sort of 18th century truck stop.
