TEATRO CARLO MARENCO DI CEVA

The Teatro Marenco, with its 48 boxes, its stalls and gallery, is endowed with exceptional acoustics. The famous comedian Macario, a Ceva citizen by adoption, stepped onto the stage of the Marenco several times and compared it to a ‘box of sweets’. The wooden stuccos of the boxes and of the stage are by Alessandro Boasso, the frescoes on the ceilings and stage are by the painter Giuseppe Vigna, and the curtain was painted by Ceva’s Vincenzo Odello (Cilin). The Teatro Marenco was restored, after years of neglect, thanks to the entrepreneurship of Riccardo Luciano and to the contribution of the whole town of Ceva. In 2007, the building underwent further, important restoration, with the aim of restoring it to the splendour of times gone by: after many years, at last the frescoed ceiling is once again the frame for the impressive chandelier which the room boasts.
