CASTELLO SOGLIO

The origins of the Soglio Castle (Castello di Soglio) could date back to the XII century. Once surrounded by a fortified wall, after having belonged to a local ruling family in 1200, it went to the Pelletta family in 1285. It was not until 1710, after it was purchased by the Della Valle family, that the Soglio Manor underwent its first important restoration which transformed it into the present day 18th century noble residency. From the parish church square, it is possible to see the high walls which large windows and Gothic arches made of molded brick open up to. The castle, surrounded by a terraced garden, is the seat for the XA Center for Art.
