CASTELLO SCARAMPI

An imposing structure with a medieval design, it towers over the valley from on high, offering, among other things, a magnificent view over the Alps. The castle, cited in documents beginning in the 12th century, was destroyed and rebuilt in 1305 by the Asinari family who then ceded it to the Scarampi family, rich bankers from Asti. The last heirs of the Scarampi were the sisters, Paola and Adele. Adele, known for her great beauty, married Count Carlo Gani, philanthropist and Spanish consul in Torino. The castle, surrounded by a beautiful park and known for its rose garden, is used today for parties and celebrations.
