CASTELLO DI PAVAROLO

Castello di Pavarolo stands on a vast belvedere from which the panorama extends, on the horizon, from the Alps to the Chierese and Astigiano hills, as far as the Ligurian Appennines. It is reached along a tree-lined avenue that reaches the top of the hill meandering through the park. Built in the XIV century, the castle was transformed by fortification and residential living: some traces of the ancient Gothic arch openings are still noticeable, replaced by a series of rectangular windows. It is an enormous construction with an almost rectangular design, surrounded by a small park and support walls that may suggest the existence of an ancient defensive boundary. A tower stands at the base, isolated by the adjacent buildings and symbol of the town, as represented in the coat of arms of the Comune.
Still inhabited by its proprietors, Castello di Pavarolo hosts events.
