CHIESA DI SAN DALMAZZO

The church is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to pre-Romanesque times; from 1271, its upkeep was placed in the hands of the Ospitalieri di Sant’Antonio Monks, who then passed it down to the Barnabiti, who arrived in Torino in 1606 at the request of the Duke Carlo Emanuele I to take on didactic roles. The church remains open for visits from the convent and the college of the Monks, who are also responsible for the houses for rent along the road. The 17th-century facade of the church has been radically expanded over the course of the following century, coinciding with the enlargement of the church courtyard at the front and the raising of the bell tower. The interventions from the late 19th century on the inside, including the aedicules, the ciborium, the choir and the pulpit, are particularly remarkable.
