LO STADIO DELLA CANOA DI IVREA

The Dora Baltea, the river that runs through the Canavese area, is the ideal setting for water sports such as canoeing, rafting and kayaking. The power of its waters has earned it the nickname of the Colorado of Europe and a protagonist of the World Downhill Canoeing Championships.

No conversation about canoeing would be complete without mentioning its natural stadium, located in the centre of the town of Ivrea, crossed by the Dora Baltea, which, in recent years, has made Ivrea a centre of excellence for international canoeing. It was one of the venues of the first race on the World Cup Circuit in 2016 and the World Canoe Slalom Circuit with the fourth round of the World Cup in 2017. The world' s finest athletes, from Australia, Belgium, France, Sweden, Slovakia, Switzerland, Italy and many other countries have competed along the waters of the Dora Baltea. Ivrea also hosted the Italian Overall Canoe Slalom and Downhill Canoe Sprint Championships. In 2017, Ivrea became the headquarters of the National Federal Centre for Canoe Slalom of the FICK - Federazione Italiana Canoa Kayak (Italian Canoe Kayak Federation).
Along the banks of the Dora Baltea you can watch the athletes of the Italian National Team while they train, along with many other kayakers from other countries who choose the Canoe Stadium in Ivrea.
