In 1842 Giuseppe Besio commenced production of majolic objects in Mondovi, giving rise to the most ancient ceramics factory still operating in Italy. Besio 1842 was established with the intention of restoring vigour and continuity to this centuries-old tradition, bringing again to the attention of the public a wide range of handpainted products, derived from the historical repertoire of the “Old Mondovi” ceramic tradition, together with new products developed and created according to the most rigorous rules of quality artisan production. The “Widow Besio and son” brand has always identified the forms, creative techniques and typical decorations of the “Old Mondovi” ceramic tradition, based on the brightness of colours, simplicity of themes associated with daily life and on the neatness of the decorative strokes. Today, Besio 1842 continues an artisan tradition that is unique in the field of decorated ceramics, capable of drawing tones of joyous and refined elegance from the unique inspiration of the people.
