Sauze d’Oulx, surmounted by Mounts Triplex, Bourget and Genevris, combines entertainment, natural beauty and the charm of the past with numerous opportunities for sport with the latest technologies. Cradle of Italian skiing, “the balcony of the Alps” appears as the departure point for downhill skiing enthusiasts. Situated in the middle of the Via Lattea, Sauze d’Oulx offers spacious and fast ski runs or atmospheric off-piste skiing among larch and fir woods. The prettiest tracks include ski run “29”, which starts from Capanna Mollino and arrives in town; the Canale Colò, a ski run named after the numerous victories of Zeno Colò omn the local snow. To access this run (which touches a maximum gradient of 50% at the start) one has to reach the summit of Monte Fraiteve, a panoramic point which can be reached either from the Sansicario slope or that of Sauze d’Oulx, or even directly from Sestriere with the Sestriere-Fraiteve telecabin. Ski runs 33 Moncrons and Rossella on the other hand are the ideal places for those who like humps and difficult slopes. Ski touring trips, snowshoe excursions, ice climbing and off-piste skiing lessons complete the range of activities offered by this splendid locality in the High Susa Valley. Sauze d’Oulx, venue of the freestyle competitions during the 2006 Winter Olympics, is rich in facilities ad opportunities to fully enjoy a high altitude holiday, so much so that every year it attracts the attention of numerous tourists from all over Europe.
