Giardino Botanico Alpinia

From the botanical gardens Alpinia, which is situated at an altitude of 800 metres on the hills that dominate Stresa, a splendid view over the Golfo Borromeo can be enjoyed. With clear sky, the view is magnificent: the seven lakes (Maggiore, Orta and the five Lombard lakes), the Italian Alps and the Swiss Alps can be admired. The botanical gardens, which can be reached from Stresa by a panoramic cableway, was created in 1934 and it extends over about 40.000 square metres. It contains, in particular, botanical Alpine and Sub alpine specimens. On the eastern side, visitors can walk along an interesting naturalistic route, and admire fine examples of arboreal and shrubby specimens.
