The museum was born from geographer Fernanda Gregoli’s idea in 1994, on the occasion of Giovanni Biglione’s discussion on his graduation thesis on Valle Maira containing a chapter on school, which proposed to create a permanent exhibition dedicated to it.
Following a long search for the material, the examination and cataloguing of the school documents on part of a group of the Valley’s teachers, the local council gave disposal of the premises and funded the enterprise. It was inaugurated in 1999, and reconstructs a classroom with material that dates back to the first years of the 1900s, and a library which keeps books from the end of the 1800s to 1970s. Report cards, teacher’s registers and photographs testimony and narrate the story of the school of long ago.
