Centro Visite Don Bosco (Chieri)

The Centro Visite Don Bosco (Don Bosco Visitors’ Centre) is entirely dedicated to the life of the Saint and, in particular, to the years of his youth spent in Chieri and considered a fundamental phase in his religious and cultural development. The museum itinerary is installed on the first floor of the former San Filippo Seminary in the “Stanza del sogno” (Dream room), the dormitory in which the friend Luigi Comollo, who died prematurely, revealed to Don Bosco that he has been saved and leads the visitor, through panels and video projections, into 4 different thematic spaces. The first is dedicated to nineteenth-century Chieri with the description of the city context in which the young Giovanni Bosco lived from a historical, cultural, religious and social perspective, while the second explores the scholastic context in which the Saint developed spiritually. The third space relates to the theme of friendship and the Società dell’Allegria (Society of Happiness) founded with the objective of creating a centre of aggregation for the young people of Chieri and, finally, the last stage is entirely dedicated to the years that Don Bosco spent in the seminary.
