A key exponent of Italian musical excellence, the Orchestra Filarmonica della Rai entrusts the inaugural concert of the new season to the principal Conductor Juraj Valčuha. The journey among the great composers concludes in June with Semyon Bychkov, protagonist of the special project, comprising four concerts, dedicated to Johannes Brahms. Many illustrious names alternate on the podium of the Auditorium Arturo Toscanini: James Colon, Christopher Hogwood, Helmuth Rilling, John Axelrod, Omer Meir Wellber. Major protagonists are interpreters of the pianoforte such as Nelson Goerner, Benedetto Lupo, Khatia Buniatishvili and violinists of the calibre of Leonidas Kavakos (in the dual capacity of soloist and conductor), Christian Tetzlaff, Yossif Ivanov, Sergey Khachatryan, Sergej Krylov. In collaboration with the Museo Nazionale del Cinema, on 23 and 24 March 2012, Ennio Morricone directs his most famous soundtracks. The crossover with cinema continues with I Sabati dell’Auditorium (the Saturdays of the Auditorium), four events that combine video projections and live music, interpreted by emerging conductors. A new addition this year is the collaboration with the Associazione Culturale Situazione Xplosiva: four djs elaborate the performed works through samples and excerpts, while creating a new dialogue between the language of classical music and that of electronic music.
