Around the central nucleus of the Dance Season, there is the composite activity of the Lavanderia a Vapore (The Steam Laundry): hospitality, production and promotion of the most interesting realities of dance in the territory, festivals and shows, school productions, educational activities, workshops, conferences and exhibitions. The opening day, October 6th, is dedicated to
Empty Moves, choreographed by Angelin Preljocaj to the music of John Cage. Considered to be one of the most important choreographers in the world today, Preljocaj created the show after being inspired by a concert by John Cage at the Teatro Lirico in Milan recorded on December 2nd, 1977, in which the composer attempted to make music from the noises of life. Starting from this experiment, Preljocaj proposed a dance that was constructed, but at the same time abstract and carnal. On October 13th there will be an evening dedicated to the active choreographers who live in Torino entitled Italian dance platform, in collaboration with Torinodanza. The programme will include Melodia (duo), with choreography by Matteo Levaggi and music by Johann Johannsson; Embrace, by Edmond Russo with the music of Oren Bloedow; and Sols a dos, by Paolo Mohovich performed to a cello suite by J.S.Bach. In April, for the first time on the stage in Piemonte, the Random Dance Company of the choreographer Wayne McGregor will perform. The productions of the BTT, the resident dance troupe, by Matteo Levaggi, and a curious look into Italian art choreography complete the programme in an ideal way.
