In the International Year of Biodiversity 2010, the Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali of Torino presents Life – un viaggio attraverso il tempo (a journey through time). The exhibition on the renowned naturalist photographer Frans Lanting, National Geographic’s Photographer in Residence, offers a lyrical rendition of the evolution of life on Earth, from its origins to the extraordinary biodiversity which today characterizes our planet. From the remote areas of Western Australia to the volcanoes in Hawaii, from the single-cell organisms to the animals which populate the Serengeti plains, from monkeys to men. The exhibition’s many large format images narrate a journey lasting over twenty years, in which Lantig has photographed flora and fauna and its relationship with the territory, in the remarkable attempt to increase awareness in the necessity to safeguard ecosystems and biodiversity.
