Pinot Gallizio, Senza titolo, 1959 - Archivio Gallizio, Torino
The exhibition has six thematic sections introduced by 22 symbol-works: the works of Felice Casorati, Giulio Paolini, Carol Rama, Pinot Gallizio, Kazuo Shiraga, Georges Mathieu, Louise Nevelson, Lucio Fontana, Sandro De Alexandris, Aldo Mondino, Piero Gilardi, Ben Vautier, Emilio Scanavino, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Giorgio Griffa, Gianni Piacentino, Alighiero Boetti, Giuseppe Penone, Ugo Nespolo, making an “index” of the documentary contents (photographs, texts, art catalogues, videos, posters ...) that represent the real core of the exhibition.
“Torino Sperimentale 1959-1969” is organised as a consultation exhibition, a space for knowledge and closer examination of the themes and protagonists of city culture. A real interactive laboratory, can be visited on different levels: starting with the works exhibited between environmental posters; through a video that summarises the most important themes of the period or, again, by constructing one’s own individual journey by consulting special sets of drawers full to the brim with documents, or virtually among the archives of images (over 3,000), that can be browsed through thanks to touchscreen technologies and by watching vintage film clips and audiovisuals. Through “Torino sperimentale” the visitor relives the main artistic experiences of those years, by reconstructing the cultural and social context within which the city itself became a large creative laboratory, while finding in art the open space of an intense interdisciplinary dialogue.
