Cavour e il suo tempo
In the second half of the ‘800s Torino was a reference point for the entire European liberal and reformist movement and the Italian Risorgimento was also possible thanks to the international network of political and cultural networks weaved by Cavour and other protagonists of the unitarian process. And furthermore: in addition to interpreting the complexity of the national and international political and strategic framework of the mid-nineteenth century, like few others, the great Piedmontese statesman knew how to sense the scientific, technological, social, institutional, economic, productive, commercial and cultural changes taking place in pre-unitarian Italy, while initiating projects, which are still important today, such as the Frèjus railway tunnel. The exhibition, consisting of display panels and memorabilia – including some of Cavour’s autographed letters – recall and document this important journey, with marked popular and educational characteristics making it suitable for a vast audience of students, teachers, fans of the history of our country and admirers of Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour.
