In Piemonte 23 “orange flags” del Touring
The orange flag is a label representing environmental and tourist quality that is issued by the TCI (Touring Club Italiano), which, since 1998, has been awarded to small towns from the hinterlands with less than 15,000 that, in addition to possessing historical, cultural and natural heritage, propose quality tourism services.
So far, altogether twenty-three certifications have been obtained by Piemonte, the second “orangest” region in Italy after Toscana. Including the latest addition from 2011, the orange flag labels in Piemonte are distributed throughout the following places: 8 in the province of Cuneo (at La Morra, the latest arrival, and at Bergolo, Grinzane Cavour, Barolo, Bene Vagienna, Cherasco, Monforte d’Alba and Neive), 1 in the province of Asti at Cocconato, 1 in the province of Biella at Candelo, 1 in Novara at Orta San Giulio, 3 in Torino at Fenestrelle, Avigliana and at Usseaux, 7 in Verbania at Cannero Riviera, Cannobio, Macugnaga, Malesco, Mergozzo, Santa Maria Maggiore and Vigogna and 2 in Vercelli at Alagna Valsesia and Varallo.
