Paintings, sculptures and photographs dedicated to the immortal legend of Marilyn Monroe, but also clothes, handbags, shoes and objects belonging to her, comprise the exhibition mounted from 1 June to 28 November at Villa Ponti in Arona, on Lago Maggiore. Standing out from the rest in this collection are the ten “Marilyn” paintings by Andy Warhol from 1962, which have become the most famous symbol of all American Pop Art, the thirty décollages created by Mimmo Rotella from the Sixties, the photographic series of famous images of the actress produced by the Milanese artist Giuliano Grottini and an extensive colection of works by contemporary artists celebrating her beauty. Not least, the famous life-size bronze sculpture by Domenico Neri inspired by the famous scene taken from the film “Quando la moglie è in vacanza” (The Seven Year Itch) from 1955, and the thirty “Marilyn” paintings by Ugo Nespolo, specially created for Villa Ponti.
