Da Carracci a De Chirico
Part of the “Tesori nascosti. Capolavori d’arte in Piemonte” (hidden treasures, art masterpieces in Piemonte) cycle, this exhibition presents a selection of works from the Croff of Ivrea collection. The exhibition raises interest on one of the most emblematic entrepreneurial families of the 1900s. The Milan company was set up at the beginning of the century by Livio Croff, and in the 1920’s it became a reference point for textile furnishings, thanks to Abdone Croff’s marked sense of aesthetics. In contact with artists and ancient workshops in the north and centre of Italy, he started a personal search for quality, art, and beauty according to precise aesthetic standards, not only ancient ones, but modern standards too. The result is a precious collection, marked by masterpieces by artists such as Giovanni del Biondo, Neri di Bicci, Bergognone, Annibale Carracci, Giuseppe Palizzi, Filadelfo Simi, Pietro Annigoni, Xavier and Antonio Bueno, and Giorgio De Chirico.
