The most important collection in the world of jewelry and jewels of the Russian imperial era exhibited at the Reggia di Venaria, in the Sala delle Arti (Art Rooms), from July 27 to December 9, 2012. Fourteen unique samples of the famous Easter eggs of high level jewelry, made by the famous Carl Fabergè, master jeweler of the Romanov imperial court who, with his productions, created one of the myths of wealth and splendor of Imperial Russia. In the Orthodox tradition the Tsar would give the Tsarina and the Imperial mother a unique and precious egg, which contained a luxurious surprise, celebrating special events related to the history of the realm and the royal family. The tradition began in 1885 when Alexander III gave a '"Hen egg" to the Empress. Also on display are 350 priceless masterpieces produced by the goldsmith factory of St. Petersburg, now belonging to the collection of the "Link of Time Foundation" in Moscow.
