CHIESA DI SAN BERNARDINO

The 15th-century church, which is situated in the industrial area of Olivetti, was part of a monastery complex which passed down to the Frati Minori Osservanti Monks in 1612. It was restored in 1957 and is particularly remarkable for its great internal partition with frescoes depicting the ‘Storie della Vita e Passione di Cristo’ by Giovanni Martino Spanzotti between 1485 and ca. 1490. The fine plasticism and the remarkable chromatism transform the small structure of the church with a single nave into a property of absolute artistic value, despite the loss of the surrounding convent complex and its rather unfortunate position in the current urban landscape.
