CHIESA DELL'ASSUNTA

Dominating the vista of Ovada, the Chiesa (Church) dell’Assunta stands out as an imposing structure from the late Baroque period, built at the end of the 18th century. The structure is characterized by an imposing façade placed between two bell towers. The church’s layout is in the form of a Latin cross, with three naves and a cupola placed on top. As with many Baroque churches, also the Chiesa dell’Assunta has sumptuous interior furnishings: the high altar, in marble, was created following the designs of the Antonelli; the canvas by Luca Giordano, which dates back to the 1600’s, is also worth mentioning. The large organ that accompanies functions is also very ancient and has been declared a national monument.
