Bannio Anzino, located in the Anzasca Valley, already existed as a town in the first century A.D., as the discovery of a Celtic necropolis here testifies. Just outside the town, the Santuario della Madonna della Neve (Sanctuary of the Madonna of the Snow) rises up. Built between 1618 and 1622, its history is tied to the traditional Militia, a corps born in the 17th century with military functions, which, over time, became religious. On the 5th of August, very year, during the festival in honor of the Madonna of the Snow, the ceremony of this ancient tradition is re-enacted with one of the oldest historical groups in Italy.

Festa della Milizia di Bannio Anzino (Army Feast), July - August
Re-enactment in memory of the vow taken during the 1629 plague, when the Milizia (the local Army) placed itself at the service of Beata Vergine della Neve.
