Claviere

Located in the Alta Valle di Susa (Upper Susa Valley), on the eastern border of the Colle del Monginevro plain, Clavière is a part of the Via Lattea (Milky Way) skiing area that was chosen for alpine and cross country ski training during the 2006 Winter Olympics. Clavière, next to the famous “black trail” and the equally famous “red trail”, is connected through the Monti della Luna and Cesana ski lifts, while a cross-country ski ring unites Monginevro and a panoramic hiking path circles the Chaberton mountain leading to its peak. Clavière was the borderline between France and Italy until 1974. Barriers that were abandoned after the dismantling of European borders are still visible.
