Pavone Canavese

Pavone lies on the slopes of rock formations that were smoothed over by glaciers that came down the Aosta Valley in prehistoric times. The area has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, as evidenced by the incisions in the rock, and by vase fragments made of metamorphic stone and graves that have been uncovered near the castle. Situated in a dominating position on the peak of the hill, the ancient castle has undergone considerable damage over the centuries that led to its final reconstruction in the second half of the eighteen hundreds, thanks to the intervention of architect Alfredo D’Andrade. Today the Castle is a hotel and restaurant as well as a Conference Centre.
